Highlights
- Revenue raised from the Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) Energy Efficiency Scheme will be used to support the public finances (including spendingon the environment), rather then recycled to participants.
- Feed-In Tariffs will be refocused on the most cost-effective technologies saving £40 million in 2014-15. the changes will be implemented at the first scheduled review of tarrifs unless hight than expected deployment requires an early review.
- Up to 1 billion of investment to create one of the world's first commercial-scale carbon capture and storage demonstration plants.
- £860 million funding for the Renewable Heat Incentive which will be introduced from 2011-12. This will drive a more-then-tenfold increase of renewalbe heat over the coming decade, shifting renewable heat from a fringe industry firmly into the mainstream.
- DECC will fund a smaller, targetted Warm Front programme for the next two years with a budget o £110 million in 11/12 and £100 milion in 12/13. From 2013 support fro heating and insulation for the most vulnerable will be delivered through the Green Deal for energy efficiency and a new obligation on energy companies.
